Player-Purchased Kits and Fees for 2025

After months of careful consideration, our committee has made the decision to transition to a player-purchased kit model for the 2025 season. This wasn’t a decision we took lightly, but it became clear that our current system was no longer sustainable. Too many shirts were being lost or damaged, and the time required for allocation and collection each season was significant.

To help ease the transition, we have kept registration fees the same this year, despite rising affiliation costs. We have also worked closely with our new kit supplier, Kelme, to negotiate a discount until the season starts on 3rd May 2025, ensuring that costs remain as affordable as possible. We also recognize that our youngest players may just be giving football a go, so we will continue to provide reversible shirts for our First Kicks players, ensuring they don’t need to invest in a uniform right away.

Owning a kit is much like a school uniform—it’s yours to keep and wear with pride, pass down to family members, or sell on when no longer needed. With our club introducing a new logo, this was also the perfect opportunity to refresh our kit and partner with a new supplier, Kelme, to create a unified, professional look.

Note: Players in Grade's 8-13 (Mixed and Girls Only Teams) plus U14 Girls need to purchase their kits. First Kicks & Grade 7 will be provided reversible shirts. College shirts will be supplied by the college. See more at our club shop here, to purchase and find out about dates to purchase/try on.

Being the largest club in the BOP, with over 1000 members, 90 junior teams and 7 senior teams, we want to be transparent about where registration fees go, as every dollar is reinvested into the club:

  •  WAIBOP membership & competition fees
  •  NZ Football affiliation fees
  •  Facility maintenance
  •  Gear and equipment
  •  Operational costs
  •  Council/building lease fees
  •  Staff salaries
  •  Coach education, resources & programme development

We understand that this change comes at a time when many families are facing financial pressures, and we want to acknowledge those concerns. Please know that we are happy to discuss payment options to help make this transition as manageable as possible. Our goal is to support our players and ensure everyone can continue enjoying football.

We also want to take this opportunity to encourage parents and caregivers to get involved in their child’s sporting experience, whether that's football or other sports. Running a club this size is a big job, and we rely on volunteers to support our staff with coaching, managing teams, and supporting club operations. Whether you have football experience or not, your time and enthusiasm can make a huge difference for our players and the wider club community. If you're interested in getting involved, we’d love to hear from you!

We truly appreciate everyone’s understanding and support as we make this transition, and we’re happy to answer any questions.

If you would like to seek more clarification from someone on our Executive Committee, don't hesitate to get in touch with admin@otumoetaifootball.co.nz.

We look forward to seeing our teams take the field in their new kits for 2025!

Kind Regards,

Your OFC Executive Committee
